This offseason just hasn’t been what Green Bay Packers
fans were hoping it’d be. The team struck out in signing
Will Fuller, T.Y. Hilton and other offensive weapons who
could have really helped out Aaron Rodgers and the
offense.To buy more

However, Brian Gutekunst isn’t done working things and
you know he’s going to be incredibly busy leading up to
the NFL Draft. With that said, could someone end up
getting cut before the first round? We think so and
defensive end Dean Lowry is surely a player to
watch.Right now, the name of the game is going to be
getting under the salary cap for the Packers. If they do
decide to part ways with Lowry, they’d save $3.3 million
against the cap, as the defensive end has a 2021 hit of
$6.3 million and a dead cap hit of $3 million.
In the summer of 2019, Lowry signed a three-year
extension worth $20.325 million. Since then, he simply
has not lived up to the hype and has disappointed fans.
Last season, Lowry started every regular season game for
Green Bay, finishing the year with 36 total tackles.
That’s not exactly something Green Bay fans are going to
phone home about. By cutting Lowry, Green Bay would
indeed save the $3.3 million and could grab another
defensive end in the draft if they decide to go that
route.
It all comes down to the financial gymnastics Gutekunst
is going to be able to pull off leading up to Week 1.
From this chair, though, parting ways with Lowry
certainly makes the most sense.
